  18. slammed. A class-action suit alleges that West Coast outlets
  19. required money up front from black patrons and refused them
  20. standard offers like free birthday meals. An ex-employee has
  21. separately charged Denny's with discriminating against black
  22. workers. Denny's says it has ended the offenses and launched
  23. a minority-hiring program.
